Welcome to the Pew

Another new podcast?

Backstory

In 2008 I started a website to promote Christian events in the city I was living in at the time, Cleveland, OH. I was sure of my passion, but unsure of how I could make a living while following this passion. With student loans, tons of questions, and even opposition (from people I thought supported me), I stopped working on that website.

In the eight year span between publishing my little website about events and my next published work, a lot happened. I started graduate school and dropped out, I started my career, I left the church I called home for almost 10 years, I had my heart broken, I left the city I loved and moved back to my home state, I rediscovered myself, I went through counseling, grew up and lived life. I never stopped writing or creating content though. In 2016, I published this ebook and released a mini companion podcast ( I even went to a real studio to record it). In 2018, I created this course on heartbreak. Here I am in 2024, relaunching and beginning again.

What Subscribers Can Expect

I will be covering three (3) areas of Church Culture:

  1. Music - 70s/80s/90s Gospel, Choir Culture (or lack thereof 🙃), Praise & Worship, & supporting New Releases and current artists

  2. Ministry- Spiritual formation, Fellowship, Church Attendance, Bible Study, Healing & Deliverance, Book Reviews, and etc.

  3. Practical Christian Living- Sex & Dating, Finance, Emotional and Physical Wellness, Politics, and more

I am not an expert in these areas (though I do probably meet Malcolm Gladwell’s 10,000 Hour Rule to be an expert in going to church ), so I will bring guests to provide the most insightful and accurate perspective (fingers cross they all say “yes!”). I will also use my own research findings and sprinkle my opinion.

I’m excited about The Pew and relieved that finally I started over. You are invited to join me in whatever way you wish. Subscribing is always the best, but no pressure here. If someone you know can benefit from a post, podcast episode, or my book or course, please share. Finally, if you know someone who would be a good fit as a guest, let me know!
